Weekend Fun

Weekend Fun

Although the weekend isn’t completely over yet, it has still been a rather pleasant one!

Anya, a dear friend of mine, came and visited on Friday & Saturday. On Friday, we walked around campus and took a break on Landis Green with drinks we ordered from The Sweet Shop. We caught up on all sorts of things, such as her antics in England and my most recent vacation out west, as well as reminiscing on memories from high school. Later that night, we went and took a yoga class at my aunt’s place, Journeys in Yoga, and had so much fun! I’ve never took a formal yoga class before, but it went well because my aunt was teaching the class and I had one of my best friends sitting right next to me. Sadly, her stay wasn’t as long as we both wished it was and she had to get home Saturday morning.

My mom decided to pop by for a visit this weekend as well! We woke up (reasonably) early on Saturday, got our Starbucks coffee, and drove out to Leon Sinks Geological Area for a nice walk. We weren’t aware that a prescribed burn took place on Thursday and was still somewhat active while we were there, though! There were a few fallen-down tree trunks that were smoldering from the inside, which was pretty neat to see up close. It was still a pleasant walk, but we couldn’t get to many of the actual sinkholes because there were too many mosquitos swarming me (as usual).

Today was my mom’s last day visiting my sister and I, so we decided to visit the Flea Market to see if they had any cool vintage/antique items that were reasonably priced. There weren’t many vendors out since it was a bit chilly, but I was able to find a Beatles album that I’ve been needing for my collection (it’s taken me a very long time to find a cheap one that’s in decent shape), as well as a few military patches, which is another thing that I’ve started to collect.

So, as I sit here with my new record playing, I can’t help but to feel so happy about this weekend and how wonderful it feels to see someone you haven’t seen for quite awhile. Thank you mom and Anya for a great weekend! Y’all are very special to me.

Until next time,

A Fresh Start.

A Fresh Start.

This was taken this past summer on Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina a.k.a. my favorite place in the world

New year, new me? I’m sorry. I’m being one of those people.

I’ve decided to start something completely new & foreign to me- blogging. I’ve never been much of a writer and I definitely don’t consider my life as being exciting & adventurous like most other popular bloggers in this world, so this will start off as a slow project, but hopefully it will progress into something more in the future. Spirits will remain high on here, though, and I hope this blog will be used as a way to remind myself of all of the things I should be happy about in my life & also as an inspiration to get out and explore more.

I’d like to think of myself as an outdoorsy person already, but the truth is, I could get a little bit more in touch with nature. My fear of bees and wasps and other flying-stinging things has held me back from doing a lot of the fun and adventurous outdoorsy things that I’d like to, but that’s where the whole “new year, new me” thing comes in. My New Year’s resolution for 2016 is to go out and experience the many things that life has to offer, all while exploring the natural world around me. Maybe 2016 will also be the year that I get over my irrational fear of those pesky little insects (which are actually very important to our ecosystem, so I don’t really hate them as much as I claim to). Let’s just hope that I actually follow through with this year’s resolution, unlike the countless ones I’ve given up on in the past, such as getting in shape. We all know that one typically doesn’t last for many people (especially me).

So, like I said, this project will most likely be getting off to a slow start, but I’ll try my best to post as often as I can. This was only a brief little post to start my blog with, so that is all for now. I hope you decide to stick around!

Until next time,
